Le Salon du dimanche is a 90-minute French conversation gathering inspired by the spirit of early modern French salons—those lively spaces where ideas, culture, and good company came together. Participants complete a short reading in advance, which serves as a springboard for guided conversation and interactive activities designed to practice French in a relaxed, engaging way. Along the way, we’ll explore language, ideas, and bits of French cultural context. Expect thoughtful discussion, low-pressure speaking and reading practice, and a convivial atmosphere… plus goodies and treats to make it feel like a true salon. This event is most appropriate for folks with a A2/B1 level of French or higher. Kitty Maynard will be leading this fantastic literary exploration.

Lecture (avant de venir)
Contexte: Cet extrait provient de La Princesse de Clèves, un roman de Madame de La Fayette, publié en 1678. Ce roman raconte l'histoire d' une jeune aristocrate de quinze ans qui tombe amoureuse d’un homme qui n'est pas son mari. Le texte que nous allons discuter décrit comment l’héroïne (la Princesse de Clèves) et le duc de Nemours se rencontrent pour la première fois lors d'un bal royal.
