We hope your summer was filled with sunshine, good company, and maybe a few croissants. Here at Alliance Française de Richmond, we’ve been busy behind the scenes preparing a vibrant lineup of fall classes and cultural events to keep your French spirit thriving.
Fall Classes Begin Next Week and whether you're brushing up on your passé composé or diving into French for the first time, we’ve got a class for you. This fall, we’re offering both online and in-person adult education courses. There’s still time to register—find all the details here
Conversation Group at Chez Nous – September 13. Looking to flex your French in a relaxed setting? Join us at Chez Nous, Richmond’s charming new French restaurant, for our monthly conversation group. Last month’s gathering was fantastique, and we’re excited to return. Details here.
Apéro chez Sam & Mathilde – September 27 Back by popular demand, our gracious members Sam and Mathilde are opening their home once again for a Saturday afternoon apéro. Expect good wine, great company, and even better conversation. RSVP and event info here.
Richmond International Film Festival – September 28 at noon We’ll be gathering at the Bow Tie Cinema to catch the French the short film La ceinture(Belted Up) followed by Rocancourt, a thriller, as part of the festival. Federation Events – Free for Members The Federation of Alliances Françaises USA is offering a stellar lineup of virtual events this month, all free for members:
• September 11 at 4pm – Jennifer Dasal shares the untold story of The Club, a Belle Époque refuge for American women artists in Paris. You can find more details and register here.
• September 17 at 4pm – Professor Bill Carter dives into Proust’s Final Volume. You can find more details about the conversation and Professor Carter, as well as registration, here.
• September 22 at 7pm – Quand vient l’automne takes center stage in the One Film One Federation film discussion with Variety’s Peter Debruge. Details here.
• October 1 – L. John Harris discusses Portrait in Red: A Paris Obsession, a true tale of mystery, art, and a discarded portrait on a Paris sidewalk. Registration and details here.
