Le Rochambeau — juin 2026
Bonjour à toutes et à tous,
As summer begins, we’re delighted to share a warm and lively roundup of what’s happening at the Alliance Française of Richmond this June — and a glimpse of what’s ahead.
Summer French Courses
Our summer session begins this coming week, and there is still time to join us. Whether you’re continuing your studies or returning after a break, we would be happy to welcome you. You can explore our Summer 2026 course offerings here.
Conversation Française — June Gathering
This month’s conversation française will be hosted at the home of Scott Koehler on June 13 at 3:00 p.m. All are welcome — it’s a relaxed, friendly way to practice your French and meet fellow members. You may register for the event here.
Bastille Day Celebration
Mark your calendars! Our annual Bastille Day Celebration will take place on July 15. We’ll share full details by mid‑June, but you can already expect good company, French spirit, and a festive summer afternoon. We look forward to celebrating with you.
La contribution de la France dans la guerre d’indépendance américaine
On June 10 at 11 a.m., the Federation of Alliances Françaises USA welcomes Valérie Lagier, Chief Heritage Curator at the Franco‑American Museum of the Château de Blérancourt. She will present a talk — in French — on France’s role in the American Revolutionary War. Register for the event here.
Nos Histoires d’Amérique – 250 ans d’indépendance américaine
On June 18 at 4 p.m., join the Federation for a conversation with three francophone authors exploring the history of America through a French‑speaking lens. This discussion will be in French. More information and registration are available here.
French Cinémathèque – Vie privée
On June 22 at 7 p.m., join film critic and historian Beatrice Loayza for an English‑language discussion of the French film Vie privée. Beatrice is a lecturer at the School of Visual Arts and a contributor to The New York Times, the Criterion Collection, and Film Comment. Details and registration may be found here.
The History of the Parisian Bistro
On June 11 at 4 p.m., author Gary Lee Kraut will lead a talk on the evolution of the Parisian bistro and its place in contemporary Parisian life. More information and registration are available here.
That’s all for now. We wish each of you a wonderful month of June and a joyful start to summer.
