Late Winter French Courses

Our late winter French language courses are now open for registration. Classes begin the week of March 9, and we are offering both online and in-person options this semester. You can find more details and register here.

Fall French Immersion in Bordeaux

We are excited to announce our upcoming French immersion program this fall at the Alliance Française de Bordeaux. Whether you've been studying French for years or are just beginning to build your foundation, this immersion program is designed for learners with some prior experience.

Lecture: French Cartographers and the New World

On February 12 at 4:00 p.m., join the Federation of Alliances Françaises and Roger Mummert for a discussion on How French Cartographers and Explorers Shaped “The New World.” This event is free for Alliance Française members. Register here.

Film Screening: Trois Amies

Heartwood Grove School New Middle School Program

We are pleased to announce that Heartwood Grove School is introducing a new middle school program for the 2026–27 school year. This program is designed for students with little or no prior experience in French, Spanish, or German.

An information session for prospective families will be held on February 22 at the school at 2 pm.  More details are available here.

Book Club

Our book club discussion is scheduled for March 7th.  We will be discussing Rose Valland, l'espionne à l'œuvre by Jennifer Lesieur.  This book highlights the remarkable true story of a quiet French art historian who became a key figure in resisting Nazi art theft during World War II. Working secretly inside the Jeu de Paume museum, Valland documented thousands of stolen artworks and passed critical intelligence to the Resistance. Lesieur's account brings to life Valland’s courage, meticulous work, and lasting impact on the recovery of Europe’s cultural heritage.

March Apéro

French and Italian Film Festival

Please mark your calendars for the inaugural French and Italian Film Festival hosted by the University of Richmond. The festival will take place March 27–30 and is free and open to the public. More information is available here.
