Autumn is almost upon us, and here at the Alliance that means Fall French classes! We are pleased to announce that we will be offering five French classes this Fall, ranging from A1.1 to B1.3 (new beginner to intermediate). Our French classes continue to grow, and we are delighted to offer this variety of courses. The start dates are staggered, with the first class beginning in mid‑September. These classes are a great way to ease back into your French language journey or begin as a new learner. You can explore all the details at this link.

Conversation Française — September Gathering

Our September conversation française will be hosted at the home of Scott Koehler on September 12 at 3:00 p.m. All are welcome, whatever your French level — it’s a relaxed, friendly way to practice your French and meet fellow members. You may register for the event here.

Alliance Française of Richmond / VMFA Event — The Lighter Side of Surrealism

Our inaugural program as a Community Partner of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts will take place on September 26 at 2:00 p.m., featuring VMFA’s Trent Nicholas and his talk, “The Lighter Side of Surrealism: Rousseau, Magritte, and Cornell.”

Alliance Française of Richmond Annual Meeting

Bordeaux Immersion Course

Our inaugural immersion course is fast approaching. The group is looking forward to their days in Bordeaux in October. The class is now closed, and we hope to offer another course next year. Stay tuned.

Parisian Chapters — Kristin Harmel & Janet Skeslien Charles

L’Histoire de Deux Révolutions

On October 8 at 4:00 p.m., AF USA invites you to a lecture on the shared — and surprisingly intertwined — origins of two revolutions: the American Revolution and the French Revolution.

The speaker, Robert Henrey, a member of the Alliance Française of Greenwich, is the principal author of Two Revolutions: Their Entangled Origins and Unintended Consequences.

One Film One Federation (OFOF), in collaboration with Telescope Film, presents French Cinémathèque, a celebration of Francophone cinema offering a curated monthly selection throughout 2026.  This month’s film is L’Etranger (2025).
