Le Rochambeau - avril 2024

Le Rochambeau - avril 2024

Hello everyone!

We have a few updates for you on this Easter Sunday and the last day of March, as we all look forward to a new Spring.

Caroline Monvoisin, the French consulate in Washington, DC, met with two of our leadership members a few weeks ago here in Richmond. Liz Myers and Françoise Mullen had the opportunity to discuss with Mme Monvoisin the state of our Alliance here in Richmond as well as our current and planned activities. Mme Monvoisin is the first female to lead the French consulate in Washington DC. We are grateful that Mme Monvoisin was able to spend some time with us, and we look forward to seeing her back in Richmond in the near future.

Secondly, I would like to remind everyone that we are again offering a French Summer Camp for children this summer. We are excited to be able to offer this program for the second year. Based on our experience last summer, we have decided to slightly reduce the size of the camp to give each student more time with a camp counselor. So, if you are interested in signing someone up for the Camp, we encourage you to do so early. We anticipate this being sold out. You can find more information on our French Summer Camp here.

Our Family Group will be holding a picnic next Sunday at Park365.   You can register for the picnic here.

Next, we will be holding an event at the Virginia Museum of History and Culture on April 12th. The Museum is featuring an exhibit on Julia Childs and her extensive career. We will meet at the Museum at 3:30 pm and tour the exhibit. The cost of the tour is $13 for non-museum members and is complimentary for Virginia Museum of History and Culture Museum members. After our tour, we will meet at Mike’s Jazz Cafe to share an Apero. Details for the event can be found here.

And on May 4th Sam & Mathilde Hill will be hosting the Richmond Alliance Française members and their guests at their home for a pot-luck dinner and Apero. We are planning on playing some petanque, watching the 150th Kentucky Derby and sharing some of our favorite recipes. You can find more details and register here.

All of these Events and more are available via our Events page on our Website.

And finally, I would like to remind everyone who is registering for an Event, Class or Membership that we now are accepting payment via Zelle. Zelle offers us an opportunity to reduce our costs of payment processing and return more of your payments to you in terms of offerings to our Membership.

That’s all for now. We look forward to seeing you soon at one of our upcoming events.

President, Alliance Française of Richmond
